Position Summary

The Mold Maker I is responsible for performing less complex full tool builds/repairs, general component manufacturing, and help support work with minimal direct supervision.

Essential Job Functions

• Investigate/Identify basic mold issues and perform necessary repairs
• Identify and participate in recommending improvements for tool development and performance
• Perform basic setup and operation of CNC equipment
• Perform grinding of various types of basic pins, cores and cavities
• Prepare components for heat treatment as required
• Perform simple shutoffs with minimal oversight
• Read and follow work instructions, setup sheets, and checklists accurately
• Record time and repair details into the maintenance ticket system
• Adhere to all safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Comply with the company’s Quality System, ISO, and medical device regulations
• Understand and follow all standard work procedures
• Participate in all required company meetings
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment according to 5S principles
• Support the Operational Excellence Program
• Work effectively in a manufacturing environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Completion of an apprenticeship program or equivalent experience repairing molds
• 4+ years of hands-on bench experience in a tooling environment
• Basic understanding of quality procedures and standards
• Ability to plumb a tool
• Basic ability to understand and work within standard size and tolerance requirements for base components
• Ability to grind to tight tolerances, typically within ±0.0001"
• Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and blueprints
• Skilled in using hand tools
• Basic ability in using surface grinders, mills, and lathes
• Ability to grind or machine a variety of mold components
• Basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Familiarity with Operational Excellence or Lean Manufacturing practices
• Good interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills
• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow work instructions and SOPs
• Mechanical dexterity with strong hand-eye coordination
• Problem-solving ability and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to take direction from supervisors
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Desirable Criteria & Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of hands-on bench experience in a tooling environment preferred
• Associate degree or 2 years of technical/trade school is preferred

Physical & Environmental Demands

Cretex Companies may use cutting oils, solvents, and other chemicals in the manufacturing process.  Testing is conducted on a periodic basis to ensure that all chemicals are kept well below the OSHA permissible exposure levels.

This pay range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for positions within this job grade, based on our market-based pay structures. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions. While the full hiring range is shared for transparency, offers are rarely made at the minimum or maximum of the range.

20+hours:
